Since 2010, the Manitoba Multifaith Council Justice and Corrections Committee has sponsored an art contest for inmates incarcerated in Manitoba’s provincial correctional centres. The goal of the contest is to provide inmates with an outlet for creative expression. Correctional workers and community members have long recognized that many persons in prison have incredible artistic talent. Unfortunately, that creative force is not always recognized or expressed in positive ways.  Through the contest, artists have an opportunity to make art that reflects many spiritual themes related to faith, loss, and hope, which humanizes the often painful experience of incarceration. This year, The Manitoba Multifaith Council were pleased to partner with Prison Fellowship Canada, who selected the theme “Pathway to Change.”
