Enjoy a midday art break and learn more about Brandon-based artist Jan Brancewicz’s exhibition, Reproducing the Old Masters. The artist will lead the tour.

Reproducing the Old Masters is an exhibition of works of an ongoing project by Brandon-based artist Jan Brancewicz. The project explores Brancewicz’s attempts to reproduce a series of Old Masters paintings, from Gauguin to Van Gogh, and Modigliani to da Vinci.

BIO:

Jan Brancewicz, artist, poet, educator, was born in Krakow, Poland. He immigrated to Canada in 1965. For over 30 years he worked at Brandon University as Adjunct Professor of Publishing Arts with the Department of Native Studies, Adjunct Professor in the Department of Visual Arts, and Art Director for Canadian Journal of Native Studies and Bear Paw Publishers. His paintings are in the public and private collections in Poland, Canada, United States, Japan, Australia, France, Austria, Germany, Russia, Switzerland, and many others. For over 20 years he served as a member of the Manitoba Arts Council. This year he celebrates 60 years since his first public exhibition.
