PATH is an exhibition of work from the Rural Artists Mentorship Program, a partnership between Mentoring Artists for Women’s Arts (MAWA) and the Manitoba Arts Network. Individual experience forms the basis of most works in this group exhibition, but collective thought and shared experience activates the work, expanding its trajectory. Collaborations and experimentation has resulted in work that explores life cycles and processes that extend beyond the individualistic, giving form to the ties that bind earthly bodies to land and other planes of existence. Spread over the Parkland and Westman region, with hundreds of kilometers between them, the group has discovered links between differing disciplines, including but not limited to drawing, needle felting, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, and weaving. Traditional methods have been given new life as the artists explore processes and push beyond into new territory, all while developing a deeper sense of self and connection to the land, and those that occupy these spaces.
